We’ve lived in three of their properties. What we noticed about LR Development, now Related Midwest, was that everyone in the company knew about the product in every way. Our first experience with them was with a unique property, a restored historic landmark. They worked to make sure that we got the final product we agreed upon, from the moment we chose rough space to the time we moved in. They were attentive to timelines and communicative with updates. We enjoyed the process from the details of design through construction of the final space. Everything was very streamlined, well-thought out and executed. As we learned about their next projects, we were intrigued again. What surprised us was the variety of projects they have been involved with – from restoring landmarks, tackling the Park Tower, which is attached to a hotel, and creating the entire Fort Sheridan community – radically different projects from one another. It wasn’t hard to grow with them. As they have grown as a firm, the philosophy has stayed the same. They have been successful at bringing people on board who consistently do their homework on your behalf. The level of attention to the customer, to details has been excellent. We have been very satisfied in working with them, as well as with our homes and our investment. Creating your own home has been so much fun.

Working with Related Midwest has been an enjoyable learning process. They excel in their profession and we have formed a very good relationship with them. Their designers and architects take the time to understand your needs and help develop the environment suitable to your style. They make suggestions and narrow choices to smooth the selection process as much as possible. We've been very satisfied with the excellent quality of design and workmanship. Related Midwest provides a truly unique, customized home, at a reasonable value for the type of property they develop. While not inexpensive, this level of workmanship and location of their properties is difficult to replicate at comparable values. For our family it’s been a terrific learning experience and investment.

My experience with Related Midwest has been absolutely sensational. I’ve bought four properties from them, and have been one of their first buyers in these projects. I value my relationship with them. Their people are very knowledgeable. They have been right on in foreseeing where the market will be, and with their recommendations about which unit and upgrades have better appreciation value, from an investment standpoint. They offer a high-end product, very high quality construction and finishes, in prime locations. They have maintained their founder’s philosophy of doing it right, the attention to detail all the way through the process. That’s unusual in real estate. They are consistent; they do what they say they are going to do. They are very nice people. I have recommended them to others.

I’d heard of LR’s reputation (now Related Midwest). Our realtor had very good things to say about them, and she also purchased, and will be living in our building. The floor plan was ideal. The location was very good for us. It’s an exciting area to be in, and we are also excited to be in the first LEED (environmentally)-certified residential tower in the City. Environmental responsibility is very important to us, and is a wonderful feature of the property.
Purchasing new construction is a leap of faith. You are putting down money before you see the finished product. We had never done that before. The confidence we were able to feel, in order to buy there, was based on the reputation of the developer, our confidence in (Related Midwest’s) Nancy Nugent, and our realtor’s recommendation. Nancy anticipated most of our questions and has been very good at getting back to us. We think she’s the best. We have never second-guessed our decision. We recently attended a black tie event, and met some other people there who also will be moving into our new building. What was very inspiring was how we all have had a similar experience in dealing with the company. We all spoke about how professional everyone has been.

Working with Related Midwest was a pleasure. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, or more professional people. I genuinely enjoyed working with them. What I have valued about them is their overall quality and attention to detail. Their expertise in building and construction was obvious, as well as their desire to complete the project not only to my standards, but to theirs as well. From the people to the materials they use, it’s just quality. I’m a big fan.
They are collaborative partners. For example, their design team suggested ways we could get the exact look we wanted with our cabinetry at a lower cost. The money we saved enabled us to upgrade in other areas. I was surprised by their attention to detail and the high level of quality they provide. I had the feeling they were looking out for me even more than I was looking out for myself. They really care. They do what they say they are going to do. If they say they will be there, they are. They don’t disappear when there’s a complaint. It’s like night and day, compared with past working relationships with other developers. They are just wonderful to work with. Any questions we had were addressed right away. You think of a contractor or developer as being there until the check is signed, and then they are out the door. That is not the case with Related Midwest. They are absolutely terrific, so attentive. They are with you every step of the way. Even before we moved in, our property value increased substantially. If we ever move again, we would absolutely look for another Related Midwest project!

There were two key factors influencing my condo purchase. Related Midwest’s founder had a fabulous reputation as a premier developer in the city. Everyone I knew had great things to say about him. I was thrilled to hear that they would be developing this property, since I loved the location.
They are great to deal with. I am an interior designer, and my home is my portfolio. -- I’ve done six homes in this building. -- Because this is my business, I see a lot – I notice everything, because of what I do. I was pleasantly surprised with how responsive they were. For example, I had picked a flooring, a huge upgrade, that turned out to be too soft. They were really incredible. They moved me to another apartment for a month, took up my floor, repainted my apartment, even hooked up my Internet cable. They are very professional. Their quality control person, Mark Goeden, was phenomenal. He was really great with me. Their selections person, Rachel was great. I really value their reliability. I never felt like: you bought it, it’s yours, too bad. My husband served on the condo board for the turnover, and they absolutely met all their responsibilities. They continued to be available for various issues a couple of years after I bought. They are really concerned about their reputation. They are selling service, too. Eight or ten of my neighbors are moving to their new development, 340 on the Park. What does that say? They like living in their properties, and want to move to the next one. Today, everybody's a developer. Just because you can build a building doesn’t mean you have an understanding of what goes into the high quality that functions well over time. The president of Related Midwest lives a couple of doors down in one of their buildings. Their own executives live in their properties.
